Today, I’m just focusing on clearing old posts out of Bloglines. These two, both from Monster.com, are great for those in the process of hunting down a job!

I’m thoroughly enjoying having all of my blogs in one place! Last week, my tech guru moved the last of my blogs into this website, and now updating my blogs has become much, much easier! Yay for simplifying my work. No more having to go to several different sites to get through a week of updates. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the extra three to four minutes I’ll save per post. I’m considering taking up Opera or something. With everything here now, I can finally work on developing the portal page into an actual portal page! I’m very excited about this. I feel like I’m moving forward again.
The creation of this website was intended to help brig me back to the person I was a few years ago. A person who was lost in a series of life changes. I feel like I’ve really rebuilt myself over the past year, and this is sort of becoming a culminating project for that. David St. Lawrence offers this great post from his series on reinventing yourself. It asks the reader to consider what reinventions are need and how they need to be approached to best suit the individual.
This website is expected to house my resume and a portfolio of many of my varied talents by the time it’s all said and done. For me, it seems a simpler way to show off the skills highlighted in my current resume while I try to figure out how to reword the current one to more effectively convey who I am professionally.

I think my resume may actually be up-tp-date fora change, but it’s always a good practice to pull out the old resume at the end of the year and make sure it reflects what you have done over the past year and that it still is in line with your professional (and personal) goals.
If you’re in ned of some help working on your own resume, consider my recent posts and this one to see if any of the links match your situation!

The other thing you should take out and dust off, if you haven’t already, is your elevator speech. If you don’t have one (and don’t feel like you’re alone here), then now is the perfect time to figure out what you want out of 2006 and incorporate that into your speech as you’re developing it. Speaking of which, I really ought to finish preparing mine so I have it ready the next time someone asks me what I do.

It’s getting on toward the end of the year, and I’m sure more than one of us is considering a change in career or job. Some of us, like me, are even considering taking on a second or third job. There’s no time like the present to make a New Year’s resolution to update and shine up the old resume!
Good luck with your search!

This week has been all about recovering. I finished cleaning up everything from camp yesterday and boxed up those things that need to go back to my supervisor today. As much fun as camp was, I find I’m actually a bit happy to see it end.
This next week should be full of activity for my jewelry business, although I may spend more of it working toward a writing career than I expect. We’ll see what happens.
This week’s link dump features a section that’s definitely been near and dear to my heart over the past year. It deals with finding yourself. Too many of us let our lives be defined by what others around us have done. We’re generally not happy and feel unfulfilled. There’s no time like the present to take a good, honest look at ourselves and see if where we currently are really fits with who we are!
Have a safe holiday weekend!

Camp is ending in two weeks. I think I’m ready for it. Well, let me rephrase that- I’m ready for a break.
Naturally, my mind is already focused on trying to figure out how to replace that lost income. I’ve been starting to apply for jobs again. I’m also starting to put in more hours on the jewelry business and have been considering trying to become a freelance writer. I may start looking seriously into that next week.
In the mean time, there is actually a link dump this week! Lots of interesting stuff on innovation and being an entrepreneur.

Summer camp is just over halfway finished. I’ve survived for weeks of running a site and mentored a fellow new coordinator. I think that part just amuses me beyond all reason. I’m in my first summer with the company, and I’ve mentored another person at my same level. Next week, I’ll be mentoring another new coordinator. I’ve also rather unexpectedly been asked to run a site for the last week or two of camp.
So much for just getting to slack off the rest of the summer, eh?
I really don’t mind it. It’s fairly easy work…just time-consuming. I am really grateful for the people in my life who have done everything in their power to make my life work over the past five weeks. It’s a level of support that is keeping me sane, and a level of support I never really had back home.
Anyway, the title says there should be some links here, so here are a couple that caught my eye this week.

Managing

My time as a manager for summer camp has come to its end. Truth be told, it wasn’t bad for a first official run, but of course I am being very harsh with myself for a couple of incidents. Now I’m looking forward to enjoying the next few weeks as an instructor.
I’m also looking forward to having a bit more time to work on JewelryNiche and exploring options for doing little bits of writer. Not that I want to become some famous writer, someone who lives entirely on their writing. I just need an outlet for writing something other than these blogs. Perhaps the blogs are even a bit responsible for reminding me how much I enjoy writing!
The link dump is still a bit wimpy, and will likely continue to be wimpy over the next few weeks while I spend twelve hours of my day teaching (and believe me, after four years of not teaching, teaching for twelve hours a day is like a good rainstorm after a drought).

What a week!
In one week, I worked three 12-hour days, survived a very bad week at camp and a visit from my parents, and turned 30. I’m beat!
What with not being home much and all, this week’s link dump may be a bit lacking.

Camp starts back up on Monday for my site, and it sounds like I’ll have work after the sessions at my own site are finished!
Next week is going to prove a long one between long work dys and my parents visiting next weekend. I hope I don’t work myself into a cold!
The link dump seems to be moving itself into the weekends more, and I’m just letting it. It’s also slim since I actually had the week to look through everything carefully.
